It is break time at school, and everyone is excited to open their lunch boxes—except for one little girl sitting all alone. Her name is Leila. She is new to the school and to Yara's class and is very shy. She doesn’t have any food for lunch like the other kids and seems very embarrassed about it. Some kids are staring at her, some of the girls are whispering to each other talking. Yara notices her sadness and feels a tug in her heart. Instead of joining her friends, Yara walks over to Leila with a smile and offers to share her lunch. Yaras friends see this and suddenly feel very bad for not being kinder to Leila. Tito comes over and offers Leila his juice from his lunch box. Keena comes over and shares her fruit with Leila. They became friends and Leila is feeling very happy. She sees her parents setting up an altar and preparing food and learns to make a sweet rice cake with her mother. She is told that the festival is meant to honor parents and ancestors with offerings made at home and at the Vietnamese temple. Her family visits a temple and prays. Afterwards, they light and hang a paper lantern on a tree. The next day the family packs up old clothes and toys to give to their local Vietnamese charity. Mina is happy to remember her ancestors and help others, looking forward to doing it again next year

The kite rose, higher and higher, until—whoosh!—the star flew back into the sky. The Happy Ending The star twinkled. “Thank you, Luna!” The sky shone bright again. Luna waved and whispered, “Goodnight, little star.”

Красная Шапочка не заподозрила ничего плохого. Она шла по самой длинной дороге, «по пути то и дело останавливалась, рвала цветы и собирала в букеты». Волк был очень голодным, «потому что три дня ничего не ел». Увидев беспомощную старушку, он тут же проглотил ее. Затем он улегся в бабушкину постель и стал дожидаться Красную Шапочку. Девочка не сразу догадалась, что перед ней Волк, а не бабушка. Она лишь подивилась большим рукам, глазам и зубам. Волк кинулся на Красную Шапочку и проглотил ее. По счастью, мимо проходили дровосеки. Они бросились к волку, распороли ему брюхо, и «оттуда вышла Красная Шапочка, а за ней и бабушка — обе целые и невредимые»
