She brought him to the temple and said to Eli, “God has blessed me with a son, and now I give him back to serve the Lord.” Page 6 Samuel grew up in the temple, learning from Eli. One night, he heard a voice calling, “Samuel! Samuel!” He thought Eli was calling him, but Eli said, “I did not call you. Go back to sleep.” Page 7 The voice called again, and again Samuel ran to Eli. But Eli realized it was God speaking to Samuel! He told Samuel, “Say, ‘Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.’” Page 8 Samuel listened, and God spoke to him. From that night on, Samuel became a great prophet, guiding Israel and teaching them to follow God. Page 9 Hannah’s faith and promise led to Samuel becoming one of the greatest leaders of Israel. They bounced though villages, over rivers and across a rainbow bridge in the sky! Everywhere they went, laughter an joy filled the air. they reached the last house. A tiny rabbit peaked out the window and squeaked with delight. The Shepherd smiled and replied, “I will never stop looking for my lost sheep and bringing them back home.” So from that day forward, Lily, among the flock with the Shepherd, knew He would always love and protect her. “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” —Psalm 23:1
