I am Nana and my grandchildren and young children share fun stories with me and I want to write a children's book based on their stories. This book is about a family of four, a mom, a dad and a girl that is 9 and a boy that is 7. The story starts with the dad asking the kids if they remember the day that he got hurt at work. He is sitting on the couch and the children are sitting next to him. He then explains that he was hurt and ended up with a traumatic brain injury which is just a fancy way of saying his brain got hurt and needed time to heal again. He explains different symptoms to the children and that even though he gets mad and sad at times that it is not their fault. He loves them very much and needs them to be strong for their mom. Together they will all heal in time and he is sorry that it gets confusing at times. But he wants them to know he loves them no matter what happens.

Today I'm going to the beach with my grandma, and I cannot wait! I know it's always an adventure when we spend the day together. After my mom and dad dropped me off at my grandma's this morning, we began to make a picnic lunch for our beach day. I love it when my grandma makes me lunches because she always fills the cooler with all my favorite foods. Today, she made my favorite pasta with olive oil and cheese, some bread rolls, and strawberries. She's also packed some chocolate cookies that I love and lemonade for drinks! We packed a beach blanket and some sand toys to build a sandcastle, and now we are ready for the beach!

Page 8: (Miko and Lizzy struggled in class but their ADHD was an advantage!) After visiting Dr Wild, the Wildebeest, Miko and Lizzy learnt to do things that would help them to manage their ADHD. Page 9: Miko became the captain of the sand surfing team and had the fastest record in the desert! Miko was also top of his insect tracking class and created the first ever pair of insect spy goggles that could see different insect tracks and tells you what type of insect you are looking at! Page 10: Lizzy enjoyed stargazing so much that she was top of the class for astronomy and could name every constellation. Page 11: Even though Miko and Lizzy had some tough times with their ADHD, they both learnt cool tricks to help them feel better and do their best.
